Independence/Dependence

July 4th always makes me think about the freedoms we enjoy in this country. Why are so many people trying to come here? What other country are people so eager to get to? There is something special about the United States of America.

Sometimes I think that we get so full of the idea of independence in our culture that we forget about the dependence that we have on each other.

We are created to be in community together. Even God Himself is in community through the Trinity. We are created in His image. We need each other. Living life together. Sharing the good and hard times develops a sense of belonging. Some one told me last week that just being in church on Sunday gave them the peace to face Monday and its pressures.

What group are you a part of that fills this God created need in your life? The Women of Christ Community are looking to create community zones...places where you can be...safe places.

Summer Planning

This morning in church Tristan challenged us to pray. He challenged us to look at each other during worship, to be communal. As a women's ministry leadership team, we have been listening to the comments of the surveys. We are taking what you are telling us to heart. It is our desire that we will be a community of women who are safe being ourselves.

So often in the past I thought that if I shared my true struggles women would look down on me or turn away. The reality has been just the opposite! In small groups and during one on one times I have shared the real stories of my life. We all have them. All of us are imperfect! We have all sinned and fallen short! If any thing else were true we would not need a Savior.
The freedom that comes from living life God's way is amazing!

Janessa Ferrell is planning a small group for women under 30 starting this fall. A couple of other women are talking about doing the study "Lies Women Believe". I, Ingrid DeJong, am going to be leading a group for Mom's with children under two years of age. Cathy Braxton would love to talk to you about what kind of small group you are looking to connect into. Amy Williams is going to be heading a Card Connection ministry for those creative types or those who would like to learn.

Maybe God is leading you to be there for some one who needs a women to be there for her and walk life as a spiritual friend... or you feel the need for some to walk along side of you right now... Talk to Jill Anderson, she is looking to set up a program to fit that need come fall.

Maybe right now it is enough to just come to the kick off and get to know the Women of Christ Community. You are welcome and bring a friend! We have a fun evening planned.

Please take our survey and let us know what your needs and desires are.

Fathers Day

Little girls and their dads... big girls and their fathers....

Some of us have had wonderful fathers who have loved and encouraged us. What a blessing. Other of us have only wished for the pain of disappointment to lessen. All of us have one Father who is in heaven who can meet our every need. By falling completely in love with Him, all of us can have the inner healing and health that He longs to give us.

Do you long to learn more about our heavenly Father and a new or renewed life that comes through a relationship with His son Jesus Christ? Through the Holy Spirit we find understanding and insight as we read His word, the Bible.

This fall there will be different groups where women can gather together, learn and grow. These are safe places to develop relationships and find mentors who can help us on this journey.

School's Out

Wow! It is summer again. The lazy days of summer...lazy afternoons at the beach....drinking lemonade under the oak tree... .....oh forgive me! I live in suburban Plainfield. The beach is 1 1/2 hours away and my trees are still not big enough to give good shade!

Ok , so what does summer mean for Christ Community? Did you know that there is a softball team this summer? We are having a Hunungo Happenin' Hoedown June 22. Vacation Bible School is going to be neat for the kids. There are mission trips and other activities.

What about for us women? Mark your calendars for August 29th for our Summer Salad/Brownie Sundae fun Women's Ministry Kick off at the church! Did you take the survey yet? Please help us make Christ Community women connected!

Memorial Day Weekend

I love Memorial Day weekend! Summer is here and while it does not feel warm enough yet, the promise of summer and back yard fun has arrived! School is winding down for the kids and summer activities are being planned. So often summer comes and we take a break ...even from our spiritual walk. Other things get in the way of Sunday morning worship and even our daily time with the Lord.

What is going on with the Women of CCCP this summer? We are excited about our new fall plans but what we are wondering is how many of you would like to have summer activities? Do you desire a summer study? Please email me at IEDJ64@aol.com if you would like to be part of a summer study.

Our desire is that we remain connected to God and each other as we wander through the lazy days of summer.

Welcome!

It is an amazing thing...blogging I mean! Thanks for logging on and checking us out. It is really important to get as many women as possible to take the survey. Don't forget to comment! God has blessed us with an amazing group of women at Christ Community Church...but alot of us do not know each other.

The stories I have heard from many, many women have encouraged my own journey. Just yesterday a young mom said to me that what Pastor Fred had said in his mother's day sermon about how young moms struggle with an identity issues helped her realize that she was not alone in that struggle! Come fall we are going to have a new mom's small group that will meet as one of the options at Coffee Break. This will be a great place to explore life as a new mom. Other groups we are planning are small groups for women only.... places to grow...places to feel safe among new friends.

And if you want to get involved LET US KNOW! There is a spot for you to use your gifts!

Blessings.

"M" is for the Many things she gave me!

Yes, it's Mothers' Day, so Happy Mothers' Day to anyone who has children - but also to the rest of you, because you either have or had a mother. Does that cover us all?

God has been so gracious to allow us in on His creative purposes, and motherhood is certainly right up there on blessings. If you haven't yet blessed your mother today, give her a call, write her a note, or tell her face to face how much you appreciate her. If your mother has already passed on, perhaps you'd like to journal about what she meant to you.

Remember the old song? (I didn't either, so I had to look it up)
M is for the many things she gave me
O means only that she's growing old
T is for the tears she shed to save me
H is for her hands I used to hold
E is everything she did to help me
R is right and right she'll always be!
Put them all together they spell
MOTHER ... the woman that means everything to me!

While you're here and thinking about it, please take our survey so we can better serve you and get to know you. Use the following link: Click Here to take survey and get connected!
